Fresno Humane Animal Services cares for about 150 homeless animals daily. Providing quality care as well as playtime / socialization is the key to helping dogs find forever homes. Volunteers help serve our animals and guests to ensure their experience at the shelter is phenomenal. We are grateful for the enthusiasm, dedication and love they share with us every day.
At our shelter Monday – Saturday 8 am - 5 pm at our shelter
Petsmart, Riverpark Adoption Days are Friday 2 pm - 6 pm and Saturday 11 am - 3 pm
Petsmart Cat Adoption Program is available after completing training.

Greeters and Family Reunification Always needed during open hours.
Animal Care at our shelter...
Minimum commitment of at least 1 shift every other week. Shifts are typically 2 to 3 hours in length.
Shifts available between 8 am - 11 am to help with morning feeding and kennel cleaning for dogs, cats, and/or rabbits.
Shifts available between 1 pm - 5 pm to help with daily essentials such as laundry, dishes, donation sorting, kennel upkeep (cleaning up animal urine/feces, swapping out soiled or broken bedding & toys, and keeping water bowls filled), and in-kennel enrichment, playgroup, reading to shy animals in their kennels, kennel front training, walks, etc).
REQUIREMENTS TO VOLUNTEER AT OUR SHELTER
- Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age
- Volunteers must prepare to commit to at least 6 hours per month.
- If you're looking for short term opportunities or you are under 18, we have some wonderful ways you can still volunteer and help the animals.
- At this time we do not offer any form of court ordered volunteer services hours.
